Why choose a gas airsoft gun?
Gas guns use either airsoft gas (green gas, red gas etc.) or CO2 as propellant. The system is known for several distinctive advantages:
Realistic operation: Most gas guns have blowback, which means the slide or charging handle cycles back and forth with every shot. That gives a noticeable kick and works just like a real gun.
Quick refilling: It is extremely easy to fill gas directly into the magazine while you load your 6 mm BBs. That makes them perfect sidearms in the heat of battle.
Authentic weight and feel: Many gas models are built in full metal or advanced polymer materials that match the weight of their real counterparts from e.g. Glock or Sig Sauer.
Maintenance and weather: what you need to know
For your gas gun to last for many years, it needs a little more care than an AEG. Gas often contains silicone oil that lubricates the seals, but we always recommend giving the moving parts a spray of silicone oil roughly every 20 magazines. This prevents rust and keeps everything running smoothly.
Be aware that gas guns are affected by temperature. In the cold months the gas pressure drops, which can give a lower muzzle velocity. Here it can be an advantage to switch to CO2 or a more powerful gas type, if your model allows it. You can always check your gun's performance with a chronograph, so you know it is performing at its best before the game.
