How to choose the right gas for your airsoft gun

When choosing gas for your airsoft gun, it is important to choose the type that suits both the needs of your gun and the environment you play in. The three most commonly used types of gas for airsoft guns are Green Gas , Red Gas , and Black Gas . Here you will get an overview of each type and their optimal use.

The three types of gas

Green Gas

  • Advantages:
    • The most common gas, which works for most gas pistols and rifles.
    • Contains silicone oil that lubricates internal parts and protects seals.
    • Stable performance in moderate temperatures (10-25°C).
  • Disadvantages:
    • Less effective in cold temperatures, which can lead to lower FPS and performance.
  • Best for: General use in gas pistols and rifles in normal temperatures.

Red Gas

  • Advantages:
    • Higher pressure than Green Gas, which gives increased FPS and stronger blowback.
    • Can be used in lower temperatures (5-15°C) where Green Gas may fail.
  • Disadvantages:
    • Higher pressures can cause more wear on the internal parts of the weapon, especially if they are not reinforced.
  • Best for: Gamers who want higher performance or play in cooler environments.

Black Gas

  • Advantages:
    • The most powerful gas with the highest pressure, ideal for heavy bullets and weapons with heavy internal parts.
    • Performs optimally in cold temperatures (0-10°C).
  • Disadvantages:
    • May be too powerful for standard weapons and lead to increased wear or damage if the weapon is not designed to handle it.
  • Best for: Advanced players with reinforced weapons playing in extreme conditions.

What should you consider when choosing gas?

  1. Temperature:
    • Choose gas based on the temperatures you play in:
      • Green Gas: Moderate temperatures (10-25°C).
      • Red Gas: Cool temperatures (5-15°C).
      • Black Gas: Cold temperatures (0-10°C).
  2. Weapon durability:
    • Do not use Red or Black Gas in standard weapons unless they have reinforced internal parts.
  3. Performance:
    • If you want high FPS and heavy blowback, Red or Black Gas may be the best choices, but remember to take into account the internal parts of the weapon.
  4. Maintenance:
    • Green Gas lubricates the weapon during use, while Red and Black Gas may require additional maintenance to avoid wear on seals and internal parts.

Gas weapon maintenance

  • Ensure regular lubrication of valves and seals with silicone oil, especially if you use higher pressure gas.
  • Check the weapon's internal parts for wear if you use Red or Black Gas for an extended period of time.

Conclusion

Green Gas is the best choice for most players and weapons, while Red and Black Gas are for more specialized needs and require reinforced weapons. Be sure to choose the gas that suits both your environment and your weapon's construction.
