Headwear is a small part of your kit, but it makes a big difference on a cold game day, in a high seat in the woods or when you are just heading out of the door. In this category you will find neck gaiters, balaclavas, beanies, caps, flat caps, bush hats and boonie hats – to keep warm, shield against sun and rain and break up the outline of your face when you do not want to be seen.
The largest group is our own HH neck gaiters in many prints, the digitally printed Digital models and warmer fleece gaiters. Hank Tactical has a balaclava and neck gaiters in black, OD and tan that match the rest of your loadout. For hunting, Deerhunter has the widest selection with Eagle, Muflon Pro, Tatra and Recon caps, Gamekeeper flat caps and knitted hats, also in blaze orange and Realtree Edge Orange. The military look is covered by Mil-Tec with a boonie hat in Multicam, a fleece balaclava, watch caps and a beret, and by 101 Inc with Fostex bush hats and wool watch caps. Trespass has caps, beanies and a balaclava, and Task Force 2215 and Tasmanian Tiger have beanies and fleece hats.
What to look for
Type and coverage: A neck gaiter is the most versatile and can be worn as a neck gaiter, hat or face cover. A balaclava or watch cap covers more and stays in place under a helmet and hearing protection.
Material: Fleece and wool keep you warm when you are standing still in a high seat. Thin, breathable materials are best when you move a lot and would otherwise sweat.
Visibility or camo: For hunting, a cap or hat in blaze orange can be a requirement on driven hunts. For airsoft it is the opposite – here you choose a colour or camo that matches your clothing and the terrain.
With glasses and hearing protection: For airsoft, headwear must be wearable with protective glasses without pushing them out of place or causing fogging, and the peak of a cap must not press the glasses down.
