Hunting Shirts

The hunting shirt is the layer that shows when the jacket is open or hanging on the chair after the hunt. Here you will find hunting shirts and overshirts from Deerhunter – checked and plain shirts, short-sleeved shirts for summer hunting and heavier overshirts that can be worn as a light outer layer.

What to look for

Checked or plain?

Checked hunting shirts in green and brown shades – e.g. GAVIN, BALDWIN, CHARLES and RAYNOR in Check colours – blend well into the terrain and look good at the hunting dinner. Plain shirts such as ATLAS, EVAN, MATOBO and LANGFORD are more neutral and easy to combine with the rest of your hunting outfit.

Long or short sleeves?

For roebuck hunting and summer days, several shirts come in an S/S version with short sleeves, e.g. the ATLAS shirt S/S and GAVIN shirt S/S. For autumn and winter, long sleeves work best under a vest or jacket.

Overshirt

An overshirt is heavier than a regular shirt and can be worn as a light outer layer on mild days. Deerhunter offers the TATRA overshirt in Loden Wood and the WILDER overshirt, among others.

Details

Look for chest pockets with flaps, a button-down collar and a back pleat for freedom of movement – the LANGFORD shirt, for example, has loops at the chest pocket for glasses or a pen. Many of Deerhunter's shirts are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

Material

Cotton is soft and comfortable, but holds moisture when you sweat. For active days it is therefore a good idea to wear moisture-wicking hunting base layers or a T-shirt underneath.

Size and fit

The shirt should fit under a fleece or vest without being tight across the shoulders. See the size chart on the product page and Deerhunter's size guide. The Lady shirts such as BLAIR, GRACE and BRIDGET have a feminine fit.

Who it suits

The hunting shirt suits every hunter – as a base under the vest on a driven hunt, on its own for roebuck hunting in May, and for the hunting dinner and the cabin. Many models are also worn every day.

Combine with hunting jumpers and knitwear, hunting vests and hunting trousers.
