Fleece for Hunting

Fleece is the hunter's favourite mid-layer: it is light, warm for its weight, dries quickly and is soft and quiet when you move. Here you will find fleece jackets, fleece vests and pile from Deerhunter – for men, women and children.

What to look for

Regular fleece or bonded fleece?

Regular fleece is soft, quiet and breathable, but the wind goes through it. Bonded fleece is laminated with an extra layer and holds the warmth better in wind. The GAMEKEEPER bonded fleece jacket has DEERHUNTER Stormliner®, which is windproof and breathable.

Jacket or vest?

A fleece vest keeps your body warm and leaves your arms free – good under a shell jacket or for shooting. A fleece jacket is more versatile and can be worn on its own on dry days.

Layering

Fleece is not waterproof. On wet days it belongs under a waterproof hunting jacket or rainwear. Over moisture-wicking hunting base layers it makes a warm, dry outfit.

Size and fit

Deerhunter has its own size charts for men, women and children – you will find the chart on each product page and all measurements in the size guide. Fleece as a mid-layer should fit closely enough to keep you warm, but leave room for a base layer.

Care

Wash fleece at a low temperature and avoid fabric softener and tumble drying, unless the care label says otherwise. That way the surface stays soft for longer.

Who it suits

Fleece suits every hunter: the hunter in a high seat as a warm layer, the stalker because the fabric is quiet, and the dog handler because it is easy to move in. Many models come in both Lady and Youth versions, so the whole family can be kitted out.
