Hunting Gloves

Cold fingers are what most often send a hunter home early – and at the same time you need to feel the trigger when the buck appears. Here you will find hunting gloves and mittens from Deerhunter: waterproof winter gloves, light gloves for stalking and driven hunts, fleece gloves, leather gloves and mittens.

What to look for

Warmth versus finger feel

The thicker the glove, the warmer it is – and the harder it is to feel the trigger. Many hunters therefore carry two pairs: a thin glove for the shot itself and a warm glove or mitten for the waiting.

The types

  • Winter gloves – the EAGLE winter gloves are insulated, windproof and 100% waterproof, with easy access for the thumb and trigger finger. Reinforcement in the palm and at the thumb gives a better grip. The GAME winter gloves are an alternative.
  • Light gloves – the MUFLON PRO Light gloves are for milder days and for hunters who want to keep feeling in their fingers.
  • Fleece gloves – soft and quiet. The fleece gloves with leather combine fleece and leather.
  • Leather gloves – hard-wearing and good for handling game, in scrub and around the cabin.
  • Mittens – the MUFLON PRO mittens keep the fingers together and are therefore warmer than gloves.
  • Silent – the Rusky Silent gloves are made for quiet hunting.

Waterproof or not?

A waterproof glove keeps your hand dry in rain and wet grass, but breathes less than a fleece glove. On dry, cold days fleece or wool is often comfortable enough; for rain and snow a waterproof glove is best.

Extra warmth

If your hands get cold easily, combine a thin glove with Deerhunter's HEAT hand warmer, which you can slip your hand into between shots.

Size

The glove should fit closely enough for you to handle the firearm safely, but not so tight that it restricts circulation – then your fingers get cold. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one for winter gloves.

Who it suits

The hunter in a high seat and the driven-hunt hunter in November and December need warm gloves or mittens the most. The stalker and the dog handler benefit more from light gloves. Many hunters carry both in their pocket.

Complete the outfit with hunting socks and hunting hats and beanies.
