What to look for
Wool or synthetic?
Wool stays warm even when damp and wicks sweat better than cotton. Deerhunter's HARRINGTON knit is made from merino wool and comes with a round neck, V-neck and zip neck – also as the Lady HARRINGTON cable knit. Hoodies in a cotton blend, such as JUBILEE and the Logo hoodie, are best for everyday wear, camp and cabin.
Knit with membrane
The FINLEY STORMLINER® knit has a membrane, so the wind does not go straight through as with a regular knit. FINLEY is also available as a ½-zip knit in Woodland and Ridgewood Melange.
Cardigan
A zipped cardigan is easy to take on and off when the temperature changes. Deerhunter has the SAREK cardigan – also in a Lady version – and the MOOR knitted jacket. See also hunting jackets.
Noise
Knitwear is soft and quiet when you move – an advantage when stalking and when you sit in a high seat and need to turn towards the game.
Wool rarely needs washing – air the jumper after use. When it does need washing, use a wool programme and wool detergent, and dry it flat, unless the care label says otherwise.
Size
Knitwear must fit under a jacket without being tight across the shoulders and arms. See the size chart on the product page and Deerhunter's size guide.
