How to upgrade your airsoft gun (Gas/CO2)

How to upgrade your airsoft gun (Gas/CO2)

Gas and CO2-powered pistols are popular with gamers due to their realism and compact design. With a few upgrades, you can improve their performance, accuracy, and durability. Here are your options:

Hop-up and precision

  • Hop-up rubber: Replacing the hop-up rubber can improve accuracy and range. Choose a type that suits your needs – e.g. softer rubber for low FPS and harder rubber for higher FPS.
  • Inner barrel: A precision barrel with a smaller diameter (e.g. 6.01 mm) provides more stability and increased precision, especially at longer distances.

Gaskets and sealing

  • O-rings and seals: Replacing or lubricating seals can ensure that your gun is tight and making optimal use of gas or CO2. This reduces the risk of leaks and increases efficiency.
  • Valves: Upgrade the gas valves for a more stable gas flow and better shot consistency.

External upgrades

  • Slide and Frame: Upgrading to a metal slide can add weight and durability. It feels more realistic and makes the gun more robust over time.
  • Magazines: Use magazines with higher capacity or better gas/CO2 handling for longer playtime.

Trigger and blowback

  • Trigger group: Upgrading the trigger group can improve response time and provide smoother firing.
  • Blowback device: Improved blowback device provides more realistic recoil and better durability.

Maintenance after upgrades

Remember to maintain your gun regularly after upgrades. Lubricate moving parts with silicone oil and make sure to check that seals and valves are in good condition.

When should you upgrade?
If your gun lacks accuracy, suffers from gas leaks, or you want a more realistic experience, it may be time to consider upgrades. Start with simple improvements like hop-up rubber and inner barrels, and work your way up to more advanced upgrades.
