Airsoft Batteries
The battery powers your AEG or electric pistol, and it has a direct effect on how fast the gearbox cycles, how crisp the trigger response feels and how many shots you get from a charge. Here you will find airsoft batteries in LiPo and NiMH in the voltages and form factors that fit the most common guns – from small packs for electric pistols to large 11.1V batteries with high capacity.
Most of the range is from our own brand Hank Tactical: LiPo in 7.4V from 300 to 1,450 mAh and in 11.1V from 1,000 to 3,300 mAh, in stick, crane stock, AK, PEQ and electric pistol form factors, plus NiMH in 8.4V and 9.6V at 1,600 mAh in stick and crane stock format. Swiss Arms has a 7.4V LiPo at 1,300 mAh, and ASG has a 7.2V 500 mAh battery for electric pistols as well as AG13/LR44 button cells. For a tight budget there is VB Power NiMH in 7.2V 1,500 mAh and 9.6V 3,000 mAh in a two-part layout.
What to look for
- LiPo or NiMH: LiPo delivers more current in a smaller package and gives faster trigger response, but needs a balance charger and correct storage. NiMH is more tolerant of mistreatment and suits older or simpler AEGs. Check whether your gun is LiPo-ready before you switch.
- Voltage: 7.4V LiPo is the standard choice for most AEGs. 11.1V gives a higher rate of fire and sharper response, but puts more load on the motor, gearbox and electronics – only choose it if your gun is built or upgraded for it.
- Form factor: The battery must physically fit in the gun. Stick batteries go in stock tubes and handguards, crane batteries in crane stocks, and there are dedicated formats for AK, PEQ boxes and electric pistols. Measure the space before you go up in capacity – Hank Tactical's 11.1V 3,300 mAh is larger than a 1,000 mAh stick.
- Connector: Battery and gun must have the same connector. Several Hank Tactical batteries are available in a version with a Deans connector, and the 11.1V 1,300 mAh AK battery comes with either Tamiya or Deans. Check the connector type on each product.
- Capacity: More mAh gives more shots per charge, but also a physically larger battery. Choose the largest capacity that fits in your gun, and consider a spare battery rather than one that does not fit.
Who is it for
This category is for everyone with an AEG or electric pistol who needs a spare battery for the field, wants to switch from NiMH to LiPo or is going up in voltage after an upgrade. Remember that a LiPo must be charged with a balance charger.
