Umarex Glock 17 Gen4, GBB

In 2017 Umarex obtained the global licence to produce – for the first time ever – official, fully licensed Glock airsoft pistols. Practically every airsoft manufacturer in the world has tried to get hold of the coveted licence to make "real" Glock replicas. Today Cybergun holds the rights in France, while Umarex holds them for the rest of the world.

The story behind a legend

The Glock 17 was the very first pistol from inventor Gaston Glock. In 1980 the Austrian army asked for a new service pistol to replace the outdated Walther P38. The Austrian Ministry of Defence drew up a list of 17 strict criteria the new pistol had to meet. Gaston Glock took up the challenge, and in just 3 months he designed and built a fully working prototype that met all 17 requirements! The name Glock 17 actually comes from the fact that this pistol was the 17th patent Gaston applied for. Today it is the service pistol of the British Army and countless military and police units worldwide.

Generation 4 – refined ergonomics and grip

This model is a Gen4 (fourth generation), originally introduced in 2010. On the real pistol a number of internal mechanisms were changed, but the biggest and most noticeable upgrade was the look of the frame:

• Textured grip: The frame has a much coarser, more slip-resistant surface texture for a secure grip in all weather. It also carries the official "Gen4" logo on the slide.

• Interchangeable backstraps: Extra backstraps for the rear of the grip are included, so you can adjust the grip thickness to fit your hand, whatever its size.

Realism, metal slide and full stripdown

The Umarex airsoft version is a faithful replica with the exact dimensions, the right balance and all the original markings. The upper is a sturdy metal slide which, together with the hard-hitting gas blowback system, delivers a sharp and realistic recoil as the slide slams back with every shot. The lower is made of classic, hard-wearing polymer.

As an extra detail for serious enthusiasts, this gas replica can be fully stripped down for cleaning and inspection – just like the real Glock 17.

The pistol is fed by a 23-round gas magazine, has a muzzle energy of below 1.0 J and is fitted with a fully adjustable hop-up, so you can fine-tune the trajectory of your 0.20 g BBs for range and accuracy on the field.
