About Steyr AUG A2
The ASG Steyr AUG A2 is an electric bullpup rifle (AEG) made under licence from Steyr Mannlicher. In a bullpup the gearbox and magazine sit behind the trigger inside the stock, which gives a rifle just 809 mm long overall with a full 510 mm inner barrel. That combination makes the AUG useful both indoors and in CQB, where you have to move between cover, and on woodland sites where engagement distances are longer.
The A2 version differs from the classic A1 in that the integrated sight is replaced by a top rail, so you choose your own red dot or scope. The body is polymer, the internals are metal, and the foregrip folds up. For comparison, a conventional rifle with a similarly long inner barrel, such as an M16 type, is around 1,000 mm long. The rifle comes with an 8.4 V NiMH battery and a basic charger, so you can get started straight away. If you play regularly, we recommend switching to a 7.4 V LiPo battery and a LiPo charger.
A long barrel in a short bullpup package
What you get with the ASG Steyr AUG A2:
- 510 mm inner barrel in 809 mm: The 6.08 mm inner barrel is longer than on most compact AEGs and gives the BB a long, stable run, even though the rifle is shorter than a standard M4 with the stock extended.
- Version 3 gearbox: The AUG uses a V3 gearbox with metal internals and a short-shaft motor. Our workshop in Aulum, Denmark can service, fit and upgrade it.
- Adjustable hop-up: The hop-up can be set to suit the BB weight. The rifle shoots approx. 90–100 m/s with 0.20 g BBs, and 0.25 g BBs are recommended, e.g. Hank Tactical BIO 0.25 g.
- Top rail for optics: The long rail is a standard 21 mm Picatinny/Weaver rail, so red dots, holographic sights and scopes mount without an adapter.
- 330-round hi-cap magazine: The magazine holds 330 BBs, and the battery sits in the stock with a mini Tamiya connector. The flash hider unscrews from a 14 mm CCW thread if you want to fit a mock suppressor.
Maintenance and safety
- Always wear approved eye protection or a mask, including for target shooting. Airsoft replicas can be test-fired in our shop in Aulum, Denmark.
- Charge the battery under supervision and remove it from the rifle after use. If you switch to LiPo, use a LiPo charger and a fire-safe charging bag.
- Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a clean cloth if accuracy drops, and only use clean, polished BBs.
- Transport the rifle in a bag with the magazine out and the safety on.
