Arcturus Osprey 5" Hi-Capa GBB DG, Split Slide

The Arcturus Osprey 5" is a gas blowback Hi-Capa pistol with split slide, fixed barrel and optics-ready slide, built for fast and accurate shooting in speedsoft, CQB and as a sidearm. This is the DG (Duty Grade) version with a 5" slide, an overall length of 222 mm, 113 mm inner barrel and a weight of 961 g. The pistol fires semi-automatic, and velocity is quoted at 91–98 m/s with 0.20 g BBs.

On a regular Hi-Capa, the whole slide and barrel move with every shot. On the Osprey the slide is split: the upper front section and the barrel stay fixed, while only the rear slide section cycles. That means less moving mass and a shorter stroke, so the pistol cycles faster and sits more steadily in the hand. At the same time, the red dot is mounted on a part that does not move relative to the barrel, which keeps the zero consistent.

Osprey 5" – key features

The most important features:

• Split slide with short stroke: The moving slide section is lighter than a full Hi-Capa slide and travels a shorter distance. That means faster cycling and less recoil, making it easier to keep your sights on target between shots.
• Fixed barrel for accuracy: Because the barrel does not tilt as on a traditional Browning-type action, the hop-up and inner barrel sit in the same position for every shot. Arcturus quotes 85 % hits on a 30 x 30 cm target at 30 metres straight out of the box.
• External hop-up adjustment: The hop-up is adjusted with an external wheel without tools, so you can tune the trajectory on the spot. The adjustment range covers BBs up to 0.40 g, which is heavier than many standard Hi-Capas can handle.
• ORS optics-ready slide: The slide takes red dot sights with an RMR footprint directly, and with the supplied mounting plate RMSc and DeltaPoint Pro also fit. The sight sits on the fixed section, so it does not cycle with the slide and does not lose zero.
• High TM Hi-Capa compatibility: According to Arcturus, approx. 60 % of the parts, or 100 % of the assembled units, are compatible with the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa. That gives access to the large range of TM spare parts and upgrades. The pistol comes with a 31-round Ambi Spec gas magazine.

Maintenance and safety

• Use green gas. The pistol is not directly compatible with CO2 magazines – this requires fitting a Long Cutoff Delay Spacer first.
• Lightly lubricate the slide rails and nozzle with silicone oil, and give the magazine seals a drop of oil at regular intervals. Spare O-rings are included.
• Store the magazine with a little residual gas pressure and the pistol without a magazine inserted.
