Sleeping mats – your insulation against the cold

A good sleeping mat is at least as important as your sleeping bag when you sleep outdoors. Its main job is to insulate you from the cold rising from the ground – cold that your sleeping bag is pressed flat against and therefore cannot protect you from on its own. We offer a wide range of sleeping mats that give you both warmth and comfort, whether you sleep in a tent, in a shelter or under the open sky.

Types of sleeping mat

Whether you prioritise low weight, maximum comfort or extreme durability, we have a solution for you:

• Self-inflating mats: Excellent comfort and good insulation. Simply open the valve and the mat draws in air by itself – easy and convenient after a long day on your feet.

• Foam mats: The classic and extremely robust option. They cannot puncture and are ideal around the campfire or as an extra protective layer under an inflatable mat.

• Inflatable sleeping mats: Take up minimal space in your backpack and often give the best thickness and sleeping comfort.

Build the right sleep setup

For the best night's sleep outdoors, your mat should match your sleeping bag. If you are sleeping in a tent, we recommend checking the mat's R-value (insulation rating), so you can be sure of staying warm all night. If you prefer to sleep in a hammock, a narrow mat can also help keep its shape and insulate against wind from below.
