A MOLLE platform is the load-bearing structure your pouches and holsters are mounted on – typically a padded belt, a harness or a thigh platform with PALS webbing. It spreads the weight of magazines and kit, so you don't need a full vest, and makes it easy to move pouches around as your loadout changes.

What to look for
Belt, harness or thigh: A MOLLE belt keeps the weight on your hips, a harness lifts it onto your shoulders, and a thigh platform gives quick access without taking up space on your belt.
Number of MOLLE rows: Count how many pouches you need to carry and make sure the platform has enough room.
Combination: A harness can often be connected to a MOLLE belt, so the weight is shared between shoulders and hips.
