H&N Sport Pellets

H&N Sport pellets – German engineering for every shooter

When it comes to ammunition that combines tradition with modern technology, H&N Sport (Haendler & Natermann) is in a class of its own. With roots going back to 1825, the German company has perfected the art of casting pellets. H&N is known for its innovative surface treatments, such as its copper-plated pellets, which reduce lead deposits in the barrel and give a cleaner shooting experience.

We carry a wide range of H&N because they offer specialised solutions for everything from Olympic 10-metre shooting to long-range shooting with powerful PCP air rifles.

Specialist pellets for the demanding shooter

H&N Sport stands out by offering ammunition tailored to specific disciplines:

  • Baracuda series: The heaviest and most stable pellets for long range. If you shoot in wind or at long distances, Baracuda is the preferred choice for many hunters and enthusiasts.

  • Field Target Trophy: One of the most popular pellets for target shooting with break-barrel rifles, thanks to its flat trajectory and high accuracy.

  • H&N Slugs: For the most powerful air guns, H&N offers slugs that resemble real bullets. They give an extremely high ballistic coefficient and accuracy at distances where ordinary pellets give up.

Optimise your setup with H&N

To get the full benefit of H&N's German precision, we recommend thinking about the whole setup:

  1. Target shooting: Test your groups with the different head sizes (e.g. 4.50 mm to 4.52 mm) on our targets. Even a small difference shows on the target.

  2. Protection: Even though many H&N pellets are copper-plated, you always need to watch out for ricochets. Always wear shooting glasses for maximum safety.

  3. Stability: To judge the true potential of your pellets, use a shooting stick or bipod to remove uncertainty from your own shooting position.

Quick guide Which pellets should you choose?

Three things decide it: calibre, head shape and weight. Here is the short version.

1CalibrePellets must match your air gun. The calibre is marked on the barrel or in the manual.
2Head shapeThe shape decides what the pellet does best.
WadcutterTarget shooting at 10 m. Clean holes in the target.
DomedAll-round. Flies best at longer range.
PointedDeeper penetration at short to medium range.
Hollow pointHollow tip that expands on impact.
SlugsOnly for high-power PCPs. H&N recommends at least 25 J.
3WeightLight pellets for low power, heavy pellets for powerful air guns and longer range.
Light4.5 mm: 0.51 g · 5.5 mm: 0.93 gTarget shooting and low-power air guns
Medium4.5 mm: 0.55–0.67 g · 5.5 mm: 1.03–1.17 gAll-round for most air rifles
Heavy4.5 mm: 0.87 g and up · 5.5 mm: 1.64 g and upHigh-power PCP air rifles and longer range

The weights are examples from the JSB Exact range.

Test a few tins. Every barrel has its favourite pellets. Buy 2–3 different ones, or a sample pack, and shoot them at the same distance. The number after the calibre (e.g. 4.50, 4.51 or 4.52) is the head diameter, and a single hundredth of a millimetre can make a difference.
