About GE AT8701 Shotgun
The Golden Eagle AT8701 is a compact lever-action shotgun with a metal and wood body, imitating the classic lever-action shotguns of the golden age of westerns. It is operated by a lever mechanism under the trigger guard – each stroke of the lever ejects the spent shell and chambers a new one, exactly as on a real lever-action shotgun. That makes this replica a natural fit for CQB, historical reenactment or range practice, where authentic handling and a slower, more deliberate rate of fire are part of the experience. Many airsoft replicas focus purely on rate of fire and modern tactical design, but there is growing demand for guns that offer a different, more involving shooting experience. The AT8701 meets that by combining classic mechanics with modern airsoft technology: each shell holds gas and BBs, so the player sets the pace and has to reload manually between shots – something that appeals both to beginners who want a more relaxed way into the hobby and to experienced players looking for something different in their kit.
Authentic mechanics and considered details
The AT8701 combines a classic design with practical airsoft-specific solutions that make it as usable as it is atmospheric.
- Metal and wood construction: The body is made from a combination of metal and wood, giving an authentic weight distribution and finish clearly different from the all-polymer replicas otherwise common in airsoft.
- Purpose-designed shells: Each shell (Ø 19 mm x 58 mm) holds both a gas charge and 1–3 BBs, and with 5 shells included you are ready to shoot straight away. The shell holder with Picatinny rail keeps spare shells close at hand during play.
- Lever-action reloading: The lever under the trigger guard ejects the spent shell and chambers the next in one movement – a mechanical solution that demands more involvement from the shooter than a simple bolt-action or semi-automatic mechanism.
- Fibre-optic sights: The included sights have fibre-optic inserts, giving faster target acquisition and better visibility at dusk compared with traditional iron sights.
- Flash hider: The barrel is fitted with a flash hider that both protects the thread and gives the replica a more complete, authentic look.
Maintenance and safety
As the AT8701 is a gas-powered replica, the shells should be stored somewhere dry, away from direct heat and sunlight, to avoid pressure changes in the gas. Always check that the shotgun is on safe and that no shell is chambered when it is not in use. Clean the barrel regularly of BB residue, and avoid storing gas shells filled for long periods, as this causes unnecessary wear on the O-rings. As with all airsoft equipment, store the shotgun out of reach of children and only use it with proper protective gear.
