Umarex H&K MP7 A1 Gen2

The Umarex H&K MP7 A1 Gen2 is an electric airsoft PDW (AEG) produced by VFC for Umarex under licence from Heckler & Koch. The form factor follows the original: short polymer body, retractable stock and a folding foregrip. With a length of 418–640 mm (stock collapsed/extended), it is built for CQB, buildings and games where you move a lot and clear many corners.

Where most AEGs are built around a V2 or V3 gearbox, the MP7 uses VFC's own gearbox developed for the model. That is what makes the compact shape possible, and the Gen2 version also has modern electronics with an electronic trigger unit, MOSFET and empty-magazine cut-off. It shoots around 100 m/s with 0.20 g BBs and runs on a stick-type LiPo battery with a mini Tamiya connector. At approx. 1665 g it is markedly lighter than a full-size M4, which you will notice after a long game day.

Compact PDW with H&K licence and modern electronics

These are the features that make the difference in practice:

• H&K licence: Markings and proportions follow the real MP7, because Umarex holds the licence for the H&K name. The body is fibre-reinforced polymer like the original, so the balance is right and the gun is not unnecessarily heavy.
• Electronic trigger with MOSFET: The trigger is controlled electronically rather than through mechanical contacts. This gives faster response and avoids burnt trigger contacts, a classic wear problem on older AEGs.
• Empty-magazine cut-off: The gun stops firing when the magazine is empty, so you never shoot "empty" without noticing, and the gearbox does not run unnecessarily without BBs.
• Ambidextrous controls: The fire selector is on both sides, so the gun works equally well for left- and right-handed shooters and when you switch shoulders around a corner.
• 120-round mid-cap: The mid-cap magazine needs no winding and does not rattle like a hi-cap. 120 rounds go a long way in a compact gun, and spare magazines take up very little space in your loadout.

Maintenance and safety

• Follow the manual when choosing a battery: the gun takes 7.4 V or 11.1 V stick-type LiPo, and 7.4 V is recommended for the European version to spare the gearbox.
• Charge LiPo batteries with a balance charger and never unattended, and remove the battery from the gun when it is not in use.
• Do not insert the magazine while the follower is pulled back – this can damage the magazine. Use clean Seamless BBs, for example Hank Tactical BIO 0.25 g.
