About Kirupira Compound Bow, Junior

The EK Archery Kirupira is a compound bow for juniors who are ready for a step up from their first children's bow. It comes as a complete set with sight, arrow rest and quiver and has a draw weight of 15–20 lbs, a sensible level for target shooting for a young archer who has outgrown the lightest children's bows.

The bow has a composite riser and limbs and measures 838 mm axle to axle. The relatively long axle-to-axle length makes it more stable than the very short junior models, and a brace height of approx. 197 mm makes it forgiving of an imperfect release. The cams give approx. 65% let-off, so the archer can hold full draw and aim calmly instead of rushing the shot.

Junior compound with stable geometry

What you get with the Kirupira:

  • Draw weight: 15–20 lbs. More power than a pure children's bow gives a flatter arrow trajectory, while the bow is still easy for a young archer to draw.
  • Draw length: approx. 560–610 mm (22–24"). A narrow range that suits junior archers of the size the bow is built for.
  • Let-off: Approx. 65%. The holding force at full draw drops markedly, so the aiming phase is calm – a clear advantage over a recurve of the same weight.
  • Stable geometry: 838 mm axle to axle and approx. 197 mm brace height give a bow that sits steadily in the hand and forgives small errors in the release.
  • Complete set: Arrow rest, brass 1-pin sight, quiver for 4 arrows, finger tab, arm guard and 2 fibreglass arrows are included.

Maintenance and safety

  • Never dry-fire the bow (without an arrow) – the energy goes into the limbs and cams instead and can wreck the bow.
  • Check the string and cables for wear before use, and wax the string regularly.
  • Use arrows that match the draw length (EK recommends 26" arrows), and discard arrows with cracks.
  • Only shoot at a target with a safe backstop, and let young archers shoot under supervision. The bow is for right-handed archers only.
