About Arcturus AK74 Variable-Cap Magazine 30/135 Rounds, Black

The Arcturus AK74 Variable-Cap magazine is a polymer magazine for AEG versions of the AK platform, shaped after the classic AK74 magazine with its characteristic curve and ribbed sides. The magazine can be run as a 30-round real-cap or a 135-round mid-cap, so the same magazine covers both capacity-limited games and regular skirmish days.

Variable capacity is exactly why many AK players switch to this type. Many sites and milsim events require real-caps or limit the number of rounds per magazine, while for regular Sunday games you want a mid-cap without winding. With a variable-cap magazine you don't need two sets of magazines for the same replica – and the magazines look the same in your vest whichever setting you run.

Arcturus AK74 Variable-Cap – key features

Key features and why they matter:

  • 30 or 135 rounds: The real-cap setting gives the realistic reload rhythm that milsim organisers often require, while 135 rounds gives mid-cap capacity without the rattle and winding of hi-cap magazines.
  • AK74 profile: The shape follows the curve and ribs of the AK74 magazine, so it visually matches AK74 and AK-105 type replicas rather than the straighter AKM magazine.
  • Polymer construction: Polymer is lighter than metal magazines and can be dropped on hard ground without denting, which is a clear advantage during quick magazine changes.
  • Broad AK compatibility: The retailer Redwolf lists compatibility with AK-series AEGs from LCT, DBoy, CYMA and Arcturus – the most widely used AK platforms on airsoft sites.
  • Matching magazines throughout your vest: Because the same magazine can run both capacities, you can standardise your loadout and still adapt to the rules of each site.

Maintenance and safety

  • Only load clean Seamless BBs into the magazine – dirty or deformed BBs are the most common cause of feeding problems in mid-cap magazines.
  • Empty the magazine after the game so the spring is not under unnecessary tension for long periods.
  • Wipe the magazine with a dry cloth after games in rain or mud, and keep the feed lip free of dirt and sand.
  • Always wear approved eye protection when the replica is loaded – also during testing and zeroing.
