About Crosman Red Flight Lead-Free, 5.5 mm, 100 pcs

Crosman Red Flight is a lead-free pellet in 5.5 mm (.22) from Crosman's Powershot Penetrators series. Each pellet weighs 1.09 g, and the tin contains 100 pcs. The pellet has a red polymer tip that improves aerodynamics and penetration, and a lead-free body that can be used where lead is unwanted.

Lead-free pellets are harder and lighter than lead pellets of the same size, which gives higher velocity and a flatter trajectory, but they also need a rifle that suits them – test accuracy in your own gun. Red Flight is an obvious choice if you shoot in areas with restrictions on lead or simply want to avoid lead.

Lead-free body, polymer tip and 1.09 g

Five features of Crosman Red Flight:

  • Lead-free: The body is made from a hard, non-toxic material – for places where lead is not welcome.
  • Red polymer tip: The tip gives better aerodynamics and deeper penetration than a plain diabolo pellet.
  • 1.09 g per pellet: A weight that gives high velocity and a flat trajectory in a reasonably powerful air rifle.
  • Powershot Penetrators series: Crosman's series of pellets built for penetration.
  • 100 pcs per tin: The pellets are stored protected so the tips are not damaged.

Maintenance and safety

  • The pellets are lead-free, but still use a pellet trap or backstop that stops them safely – hard lead-free pellets ricochet more easily than lead.
  • Keep the tin closed and dry so the pellets do not oxidise or get damaged skirts that affect accuracy.
  • Always test new pellets in your own gun – accuracy depends on the barrel, and what shoots best in one gun is not necessarily best in another.
  • Only shoot at a safe backstop, and wear eye protection. Check the air gun regulations in your country before purchase.
