About Plastic Air Rifle Darts, .22 (5.5 mm), 10 pcs
Air rifle darts in .22 (5.5 mm) calibre with a metal point and coloured plastic flights. The pack contains 10 darts in mixed colours, and they are loaded into the barrel just like an ordinary pellet. The darts are used for target shooting at dartboards and softer targets, where you can see exactly where each shot has landed because the dart stays in place.
Darts are an alternative to diabolo pellets when you want something a little different: instead of passing through a paper target, the dart stays in the target, and the different colours make it easy to see who shot what when several people share the same board. They do not fly with the same precision as pellets, however, and are intended for short distances. The darts can usually be collected and reused, as long as the point and flights are intact.
Reusable darts for .22 (5.5 mm) air rifles
What you need to know about the darts:
- .22 (5.5 mm) calibre: The darts fit barrels in 5.5 mm calibre. They do not fit .177 (4.5 mm) guns.
- Metal point: The sharp metal needle penetrates dartboards, cork and cardboard and holds the dart firmly in the target.
- Plastic flights: The split plastic flights stabilise the dart in the air and give it a straight flight path at short range.
- Mixed colours: Red, blue, yellow and green make it easy to tell apart shots from several shooters on the same target.
- 10 pcs per pack: The darts can be reused as long as the point and flights are intact – unlike pellets, which deform on impact.
Maintenance and safety
- Only shoot at soft targets such as dartboards or thick cardboard – never at hard surfaces, where the dart can ricochet or break.
- Discard darts with a bent point or split flights; they fly off line and can get stuck in the barrel.
- Check that the barrel is clear if a dart does not leave the barrel as expected.
- Wear safety glasses, and check the air rifle regulations in your country, including age limits.
