Benchmade 18065S Mini Adira

The Benchmade 18065S Mini Adira is a compact folding knife for fishing and EDC in Depth Blue with orange details. The partly serrated 81.5 mm drop-point blade is in MagnaCut with a Stonewash Polish finish, the handle is Grivory, and the knife locks with an AXIS lock with stainless springs. At 88 g and 108 mm closed, it is light enough to carry every day.

The Mini Adira is the smaller version of the Adira in the Benchmade Water series. It has the same purpose – line, rope, bait and small fish – but is 22 mm shorter closed and about 32 g lighter, so it also works as a daily pocket knife. The 18065S is the original Depth Blue version with an orange lanyard, while the 18065SBT-01 is the dark variant with a Tempest Gray handle and Cerakote-coated blade.

MagnaCut, compact Grivory handle and stainless AXIS lock

Five features that make the Mini Adira a pocket-friendly knife for the water:

• MagnaCut steel (60–62 HRC): Stainless powder steel developed without chromium carbides in its structure. It gives better corrosion resistance and toughness than S30V at the same hardness, and the steel is also relatively easy to resharpen.
• Partly serrated 81.5 mm drop-point: The serrations cut line and rope, even when a wet rope is under tension, while the plain section of the 2.9 mm blade handles bait and detail work.
• AXIS lock with stainless springs: The crossbar lock works the same from both sides, so the knife is Ambidextrous, and the stainless steel springs are chosen to resist salt water better than ordinary lock springs.
• Grivory handle: Glass-fibre reinforced polyamide that is light and stiff and does not absorb water. The handle is 16.26 mm thick and gives a secure grip, even with wet hands.
• Reversible Deep Carry clip and orange lanyard: The knife rides deep and discreetly in the pocket, and the orange lanyard makes it quick to pull out and easy to spot if dropped.

Maintenance and safety

• Rinse the knife in fresh water after salt water, dry it thoroughly and give the AXIS lock and pivot a drop of knife oil. Avoid the dishwasher – damage from it is not covered by the warranty.
• Sharpen the serrations with a thin, round or tapered sharpening rod – do not use the knife as a pry bar or screwdriver.
• Keep your fingers away from the edge when folding the blade in: pull the AXIS lock back and guide the blade all the way in with control.
• Check the regulations in your country before carrying the knife in public.
