About Benchmade 15650 SlipRidge Fixed Combo

The Benchmade 15650-COMBO SlipRidge Fixed Combo is a three-piece hunting set: the SlipRidge Fixed knife with a stabilised wood handle, a gut hook in 440C steel with Rust Orange Cerakote, and a modular OD Green Boltaron sheath that carries both tools. The knife has a 94 mm drop-point blade in CPM MagnaCut and is 206 mm long. The set is made in the USA.

When the belly skin is opened with a knife tip, it is easy to cut too deep and hit the stomach or intestines. The gut hook is slipped under the skin and opens it from the inside without going deep – also when using the gutless method. The knife then handles skinning and butchering.

MagnaCut knife, 440C gut hook and shared sheath

Five features that make the set a complete tool for game processing:

  • CPM MagnaCut (60–62 HRC): Stainless powder steel with no chromium carbides in its microstructure. It outperforms S30V in particular on corrosion resistance and toughness and holds an edge for a long time – an advantage when the knife is working in blood and moisture.
  • 94 mm drop point with SelectEdge: A high tip and generous belly give precision close to organs and long cuts when skinning. The blade is 2.9 mm thick.
  • 440C gut hook with Rust Orange Cerakote: A proven stainless steel that is easy to maintain. The coating protects against wear, and the colour makes the hook easy to find.
  • Stabilised wood with deep finger choil: The wood withstands moisture and temperature changes better than untreated wood, and the handle is shaped to resist rolling in the hand.
  • Shared modular Boltaron sheath: A MOLLE-compatible sheath with room for both knife and gut hook on a belt or gear.

Maintenance and safety

  • Rinse blood off the knife, hook and sheath, dry everything thoroughly and give the blade a thin film of oil.
  • Use neither the knife nor the hook as a pry bar, and do not twist the blade in joints and bones.
  • Mind the inner edge of the hook when cleaning, and seat both tools fully in the sheath.
  • Check the laws in your country on carrying and transporting a fixed-blade knife, including to and from the hunt.
