Benchmade 916SBK Triage

The Benchmade 916SBK Triage is a professional rescue folding knife, developed for rescue services, paramedics and police who need specialised tools for emergencies. The Triage series has also been selected by NASA as official equipment in the survival suits for the Artemis II space missions, which underlines the mechanical reliability of the design under extreme conditions.

Blunt-tip profile and integrated rescue tools

The design of the knife and its secondary tools are adapted for extrication and rescue work, where safety around people is critical:

• Blunt tip (Opposing Bevel): The tip of the blade is rounded and blunt. This minimises the risk of accidental stab wounds or punctured equipment when cutting close to a person's body during an entrapment incident.

• Fold-out safety hook: The spine of the handle houses an independent rescue hook made of 440C steel. The hook is used to quickly cut through seat belts, clothing and heavy straps.

• Carbide glass breaker: The butt of the handle has an integrated carbide tip for controlled breaking of car windows during rescue operations.

• Black G10 handle: The handle is made from textured black G10 glass-fibre composite, giving a high-friction, stable grip in wet or stressful working conditions.

Highly corrosion-resistant N680 steel

The blade is made from a special steel that withstands constant exposure to moisture and liquids without corroding:

• Böhler N680 nitrogen steel (57–59 HRC): The 86.4 mm blade is made from N680 steel. Adding nitrogen to the alloy gives the steel one of the highest resistances to rust and salt water among knife steels, which makes the knife very easy to maintain.

• Partially serrated edge: The blade has a partially serrated edge towards the base, which makes it easy to saw through thick rope and fibrous materials. The surface is protected by a matt black Cerakote® coating.

AXIS® Lock and fully Ambidextrous

The model uses Benchmade's mechanical AXIS® Lock, which locks the blade open via a steel crossbar. The system allows controlled one-handed opening and closing and works the same from both the right and left side of the handle. Because the Deep Carry pocket clip can also be moved, the knife is fully Ambidextrous.

The knife is made in the USA at Benchmade's own factory and is part of their Black Class series for professional use.
