About Benchmade 15650 SlipRidge Fixed
The Benchmade 15650 SlipRidge Fixed is a fixed-blade hunting knife, intended as the core of a big-game kit. The 94 mm drop-point blade is CPM MagnaCut, and the handle is stabilised wood. The knife weighs 102 g, is 206 mm long, comes with a modular OD Green Boltaron sheath and is made in the USA.
The high tip and generous belly give long, controlled cuts when skinning, while the moderate length keeps the knife easy to control in tight spaces when field dressing. A fixed blade has no lock or pivot where blood and fat can collect, so it is simpler to keep clean than a folder.
MagnaCut, wood handle and modular sheath
Five features that define the knife in the field:
- CPM MagnaCut (60–62 HRC): Stainless powder steel with no chromium carbides in its microstructure. It outperforms S30V in particular on corrosion resistance and toughness and holds an edge for a long time – an advantage when the knife is working in blood and moisture.
- 94 mm drop point with SelectEdge: Long enough for larger game, nimble enough close to organs and joints. The fine factory edge and 2.9 mm thickness give low cutting resistance.
- Stabilised wood handle: Stabilised wood withstands moisture and temperature changes far better than untreated wood and keeps the classic hunting-knife look.
- Deep finger choil and pinch points: The handle is shaped to resist rolling in the hand, and the choil gives a secure stop with wet hands or gloves.
- Modular Boltaron sheath: A MOLLE-compatible sheath that can be expanded with the separately sold 11OR SlipRidge Hook.
Maintenance and safety
- Rinse off blood and fat as soon as possible, dry the knife and sheath thoroughly and give the blade a thin film of oil.
- Do not use the knife as a pry bar, and do not twist the blade in joints and bones.
- Seat the knife fully in the sheath and keep your fingers behind the choil while working.
- Check the laws in your country on carrying and transporting a fixed-blade knife, including to and from the hunt.
