About Benchmade 15090-01 SlipRidge
The Benchmade 15090-01 SlipRidge is a hunting folder with an 89 mm modified clip-point blade in CPM MagnaCut and handle scales in Rust Orange G10. It locks with Benchmade's latest generation AXIS Lock and is carried on a Deep Carry clip. The knife weighs 118 g, measures 121 mm closed and 210 mm open, and is made in the USA.
The G10 version is for hunters who want a folder that can handle rain, cold and blood, and is easy to find if set down in leaves or grass. G10 does not absorb moisture like wood and keeps its grip with wet hands. The scales cover the pivot and can be removed when the knife needs a thorough clean.
MagnaCut, removable G10 scales and AXIS Lock
Five features that make the SlipRidge well suited to hunting and the outdoors:
- CPM MagnaCut (60–62 HRC): Stainless powder steel with no chromium carbides in its microstructure. It outperforms S30V in particular on corrosion resistance and toughness and holds an edge for a long time – an advantage when the knife is working in blood and moisture.
- SelectEdge sharpening: Benchmade's fine factory edge makes the knife very sharp from the first use – noticeable when skinning and field dressing.
- 89 mm modified clip point: The wide blade has belly for long cuts and a fine tip for detail work. At 2.9 mm thick, cutting resistance is low.
- Removable Rust Orange G10 scales: Moisture-resistant glass-fibre composite with a textured surface. The scales hide the pivot and can be removed for cleaning or replacement.
- Next-gen AXIS Lock: A crossbar lock operated one-handed from either side. Unlike a liner lock, your thumb never has to cross the path of the blade.
Maintenance and safety
- Remove the scales after the hunt, rinse off blood and dirt, dry everything thoroughly and give the pivot and lock a drop of oil.
- Do not use the knife as a pry bar, and do not twist the blade in joints and bones.
- Keep your fingers out of the blade's path when releasing the lock and closing the knife.
- Check the laws in your country on carrying a folding knife in public.
