We are fascinated by this wonderful activity and want to help spread it – and in many places you can even join a club.

Where can you play airsoft?

If you are up for a game of airsoft, there are plenty of airsoft clubs and associations you can look into, with good airsoft sites in many regions. Search online for the nearest airsoft club or association where you live. Then it is simply a matter of contacting them and asking when the next event is.

There are many different types of airsoft site. You can find both outdoor and indoor sites – one example is the huge indoor site in Odense, Denmark, where more and more members are signing up. Elsewhere, outdoor sites are laid out strategically to make the most of the surrounding terrain. The people who build these sites put their heart and soul into the game, so you are guaranteed a great experience wherever you choose to play airsoft.

What makes airsoft so much fun?

Airsoft is definitely here to stay – and so are the sites. Airsoft is somewhat similar to paintball, but you are not hit by paint or by balls that really hurt, as you are in paintball. What sets airsoft apart is that it is a more authentic simulation of a real combat situation.

When you start digging into the gear and the different airsoft guns, you will quickly discover that manufacturers go to great lengths to make everything look real. Airsoft is very much about realism, and that is what attracts many people to it.

It also means you will very quickly start caring about having the right gear – the right guns, the right glasses, the right helmet and so on. It simply becomes part of the hobby that you want to be the one on the field with the best kit and the most authentic outfit.

Airsoft is also a team sport. You take part in an activity that requires a good sense of teamwork, because there is a lot of strategy woven into the game that you will need to learn. You need to be good at listening and learning when you start playing airsoft. There is quite a lot to take in the first few times, and the learning curve is fairly steep. But once you are into the game, you will never regret doing your homework. You will make lots of new friends and teammates, who can easily become part of your circle.

How old do you have to be to play airsoft?

There are actually a few rules you should get to know before you start playing airsoft. For example, there are rules that your airsoft guns must not be displayed in public and must therefore be transported covered, in a case or similar. That is simply because the replicas are so authentic that many people would not be able to tell an airsoft rifle from a real one.

On top of that, there are age limits for playing airsoft. They vary from country to country, and younger players often need written consent from a parent or guardian. The reason is simply that airsoft resembles real combat, which can be a little hard on the mind, so players need to be fairly mature to take part. Check the rules where you play.
