Should I choose a CO2 or a gas airsoft gun?

2 min read

When it comes to CO2 and gas airsoft guns, which type you choose is a matter of taste. The biggest difference between the two is that a CO2-powered airsoft gun is not affected by cold and cold air to the same extent as a gas-powered airsoft gun. You will also find that the pressure in a CO2 capsule is far higher, which gives you a gun that shoots harder than with other propellants.

A great backup with gas and/or CO2

Need a backup gun or two for your airsoft rifle? At Handelshuset Aulum we have a wide range of realistic pistols and more that you can take into battle.

Gas guns

A gas gun can quickly become a necessity if your electric airsoft gun (AEG) – an AK47, a JG MP5 or another gun – has run out of BBs. With a gas gun you are quickly ready and can get back into the fight, because you can fill gas at the same time as you load new BBs. That way you can always have a full, fresh magazine with you on the airsoft field. Besides getting you back in the game quickly, gas guns also perform really well and have a great recoil. Be aware, though, that the gun becomes less powerful as it runs low on gas.

There are different price ranges depending on what your gas gun is for. There are budget-friendly pistols for target shooting in the garden, and there are pistols with working functions for when you head out onto the airsoft field. Gas guns come as pistols, rifles and more.

CO2 guns

Like a gas gun, a CO2-powered gun can be a necessary backup on the airsoft field when your rifle is out of BBs. With us you will find CO2 airsoft guns in every price range. The budget-friendly pistols often shoot very hard and are therefore also perfect for target shooting in the garden. Then there are of course the higher-priced models that look and work like real firearms in every way: you get recoil, working functions such as blowback, and they are made of metal rather than plastic. CO2 guns also have a fairly high muzzle velocity.

So which airsoft pistol should you choose?

The conclusion must be that the gas gun is perfect for practice in the garden or another safe, screened-off area where you shoot at stationary targets such as cans or bottles. The CO2-powered gun does well on the field, as its muzzle velocity is not reduced and it is not affected by cold or warm conditions. The CO2 gun is also the one of the two that most resembles a real firearm in appearance – just look at our Smith & Wesson 629 Classic 6.5”.

We hope this has helped you decide between a CO2 airsoft gun and a gas airsoft gun. If you still have questions, email us at support@handelshusetaulum.dk or call us on +45 97 47 31 78.
