MTM Gun Vise

The MTM gun vise (MTM Case-Gard Gun Vise, GV30) is a free-standing workstation for cleaning, maintenance and minor workshop jobs on rifles and shotguns – and it works just as well for air rifles and airsoft rifles. The gun is clamped in two forks, and the base underneath has compartments for cleaning kit, so everything is in one place on the bench.

Without a vise, cleaning often ends with a gun wobbling on a towel while you try to hold it with one hand and run the cleaning rod with the other. The GV30 holds the gun with a one-lever cam lock, and all contact points are rubber-coated so the finish is not marked. The rear fork angles the gun correctly for cleaning the barrel from the chamber end, so dirt and oil run out of the muzzle and not into the action.

What you get with the MTM vise:

• One-lever cam lock: The gun is clamped and released quickly without screw clamps. Rubber-coated contact surfaces protect bluing, lacquer and wood.
• Two forks: The gun can lie horizontally or angled for barrel cleaning, and in the horizontal position the vise is also handy for boresighting and mounting a riflescope.
• 11 compartments in the base: Keeps small parts, screws and cleaning kit organised so nothing goes missing during the job.
• 21 bit holders: Moulded into the base and fit cleaning brushes and jags as well as screwdriver bits.
• Chemical-resistant plastic: Polypropylene that withstands cleaning agents and solvents. Four non-slip rubber feet, and the vise can also be bolted down.

Maintenance and safety

• Always check that the gun is unloaded and the magazine removed before clamping it in the vise.
• Wipe up spilt cleaning agents after use so the rubber coating lasts as long as possible.
• Do not tighten the cam lock harder than necessary on thin-walled stocks and fore-ends.
• Place the vise on a flat, stable surface – or bolt it down – when working on heavy guns.
