Find the right air pistol: systems and regulations
When you buy an air pistol, it is important to know the difference between the technologies. We specialise in the following systems:
-
Break-barrel & spring systems: The most classic and reliable type of air pistol. You cock a spring by breaking the barrel, which makes you completely independent of pumps or air tanks. Simple, durable and always ready to shoot.
-
PCP air pistols (pre-charged pneumatic): The modern gold standard. These pistols have a built-in reservoir of compressed air, giving completely recoil-free shots and high precision. The preferred choice for shooters who want to train groupings at a high level.
-
Spring and PCP only: Our range focuses on spring-powered and PCP air pistols in .177 (4.5 mm). Rules for air pistols differ across the EU, so check the regulations in your country before you buy.
Powerful air pistols – what m/s can you expect?
Break-barrel (spring system):
- Typically 120–160 m/s in standard models
- Up to 175–190 m/s in the most powerful models (e.g. Gamo P-900 IGT Mach 1)
- Simple operation, no air filling needed
PCP air pistols (pre-charged pneumatic):
- Typically 180–250 m/s with precision ammo
- The Reximex RP and Hatsan Sortie are top models at up to 250 m/s
What suits your use?
- Casual shooting in the garden: break-barrel at 150–170 m/s is ideal
- Serious precision training: PCP at 180–250 m/s
