About FX DRS MKII Tactical Sniper, PCP, .177 (4.5 mm)
The FX DRS MKII Tactical Sniper is the longest tactical DRS: a PCP air rifle with a 700 mm barrel, aluminium handguard and adjustable AR15 stock. It is built for shooters who shoot prone or from a bench with a bipod on the Arca rail, and who want the largest air reserve in the standard Tactical series.
The reservoir is built into the barrel shroud and holds 310 cc at Sniper length. There is no bottle under the barrel, so the handguard has rails all the way round with a low profile. According to the distributor, the .177 (4.5 mm) version with FX's slug kit and Super High Power plenum can reach around 61 J with slugs of approx. 1.3 g; the rifle is, however, supplied at a medium setting.
What sets the DRS MKII Tactical Sniper apart
Chassis and mechanics are the same as on the Compact and Standard – it is the barrel length and air reserve that make the difference:
- 700 mm barrel: 200 mm longer than the Compact. The long barrel gives the air more time to accelerate the projectile and shifts the balance forward, which makes the rifle steadier on a bipod.
- 310 cc reservoir: The largest air reserve in the standard Tactical series – 100 cc more than the Compact – and therefore more shots between fills.
- Handguard with Arca-Swiss and M-LOK: Aluminium handguard with full-length Picatinny on top and Arca-Swiss underneath, M-LOK slots and QD holes. A bipod can be placed exactly where the balance is best.
- AR15 stock on Mil-Spec buffer tube: Adjustable length of pull and the option to switch to another AR15 stock, for example one with an adjustable cheek piece for long shots.
- AMP MKII regulator and STX liner: Externally adjustable regulator, adjustable hammer spring and a Superior STX liner that can be changed without emptying the reservoir. The riflescope mounts on a 30 MOA Picatinny rail.
Maintenance and safety
- Only fill with clean, dry compressed air and never above 230 bar, which FX states as the maximum system pressure for the DRS MKII.
- Do not set the regulator above 180 bar, and refill before pressure drops below the regulator pressure.
- Clean without water or chemicals, and keep O-rings and seals out of direct sunlight.
- Store the rifle uncocked, unloaded and out of reach of children. Check the air rifle regulations in your country before purchase.
