About FX DRS 700 Base, PCP, .177 (4.5 mm)
The FX DRS 700 Base is the long version of the first-generation DRS action: action, trigger and a 700 mm barrel in .177 (4.5 mm), but no stock. You choose the stock or chassis yourself and can build a PCP rifle aimed at precision shooting at longer range, where the long barrel and large air volume come into their own.
As on all DRS models, the reservoir is built into the barrel shroud, so there is no bottle hanging under the barrel. On the 700, the long shroud holds just over 300 cc of air – significantly more than the 500 version. A longer barrel gives the air more time to accelerate the projectile, which pays off especially with heavy diabolos and slugs. It is cocked with a sidelever, and the mini magazine allows low scope mounting.
What defines the DRS 700 Base
The action can be fine-tuned at several points to suit your ammunition.
- Long barrel, large reservoir: With a 700 mm barrel and just over 300 cc of air in the shroud, the 700 is the DRS Base with the most air to work with – an advantage when the regulator pressure is turned up for heavier projectiles.
- Externally adjustable AMP regulator: The AMP MkII regulator is adjusted from the outside, so pressure can be matched to the pellet or slug you have chosen. Constant working pressure gives consistent velocity from the first to the last shot on a fill.
- Adjustable hammer spring: Without a stock fitted, the hammer spring preload can be adjusted. This controls how long the valve stays open, and therefore the air volume per shot.
- Superior liner with STX rifling: The replaceable liner has Smooth Twist X rifling pressed in from the outside. The result is a very smooth bore with even lands and grooves, low resistance and a good seal around the projectile.
- Fully adjustable trigger: The two-stage trigger can be set on both the first and second stage, and the trigger blade can be adjusted for length, height and angle. The barrel has a ½ UNF thread with thread protector, ready for an optional moderator.
Maintenance and safety
- Only use clean, dry compressed air, and never fill above the maximum pressure of 230 bar.
- Inspect the O-rings at the fill port and magazine at regular intervals, and replace them when worn.
- Make adjustments to the regulator and hammer spring gradually, and measure the effect with a chronograph.
- Store the action unloaded and out of reach of children. Check the air rifle regulations in your country before purchase.
