Arcturus Thunder A CO2 Sound Grenade, Core + Shells, Patterned

The Arcturus Thunder A is a CO2-powered sound grenade for airsoft, and this complete set consists of a reusable core and shells with a patterned, dotted surface. The core is powered by a standard 12 g CO2 cartridge, and the grenade is activated like a classic hand grenade with safety pin and spoon, after which it goes off after a maximum of 2 seconds.

Sound grenades are used to clear rooms and buildings in CQB, to create confusion before an assault and to give milsim scenarios an extra layer of realism. Because the Thunder A runs on CO2 rather than powder or caps, no pyrotechnics are involved – the core is taken out after use, and new shells are available separately in a 6-pack, so you only replace the parts that wear.

Key features and why they matter:

• CO2-powered: A 12 g CO2 cartridge supplies the pressure – no powder, primers or caps, which makes the grenade easier to handle and store than pyrotechnic alternatives.
• Short delay: Going off after a maximum of 2 seconds gives the opponent very little time to react, but also means the grenade must be thrown immediately.
• Reusable core: The core is the lasting part of the system; shells are available separately as a 6-pack (CGSP-6V), keeping the running cost per throw down.
• Pin and spoon: Activation with safety pin and spoon follows the same operation as a real hand grenade, so the drills can be trained realistically.
• Patterned shells: The set comes with shells with a patterned, dotted surface, which are also available as a refill pack in the same finish.

Maintenance and safety

• Throw the grenade immediately once the safety pin is pulled and the spoon released – the delay is a maximum of 2 seconds, and the manufacturer advises against 'cooking' the grenade.
• Never use the grenade close to the face or ears, and always wear approved eye protection; follow the site's rules for sound grenades and safety distances.
• Never fill BBs, water or other objects into the shell or core – the product is a sound simulator and is not designed to launch projectiles.
• Store the core dry and without a CO2 cartridge fitted, and check seals and threads for dirt before each use.
