About Jefftron PTFE (Teflon) Insulated Wire (16 AWG), 2 pcs

Jefftron Teflon-insulated wire is a set of 16 AWG wires – one black and one red – for building new wiring in AEGs and HPA replicas. The conductor consists of 19 nickel-plated copper strands of 0.287 mm, and the PTFE insulation is only 0.28 mm thick, giving an overall diameter of approx. 2.10 mm. According to Jefftron, the price per set covers 1 m of black and 1 m of red wire.

Teflon wire is a classic choice when you want a thick copper conductor without thick, soft insulation that takes up space in the gearbox and stock. PTFE is thin, smooth and highly heat-resistant, so the wire slides more easily through tight channels and won't melt if the soldering iron gets too close.

Why Teflon wire

What the specifications mean in practice:

  • Low conductor resistance: 14.60 Ω/km at 20 °C with a 1.3 mm² cross-section. Lower resistance gives more efficient power transfer – Jefftron highlights faster motor start-up and a higher rate of fire in AEGs.
  • Withstands the soldering iron: PTFE can tolerate direct contact with the soldering tip and has an operating range from -80 to 250 °C – something ordinary PVC wire cannot do.
  • Thin insulation: A 0.28 mm wall thickness gives an outer diameter of approx. 2.10 mm – slimmer than typical silicone wire of the same gauge.
  • Nickel-plated copper strands: 19 strands make a flexible wire, and the plating protects the copper against oxidation over time.
  • Documented quality: Manufactured to the UL 758 standard and rated up to 600 V – more than enough for airsoft voltages.

Maintenance and safety

  • Always disconnect the battery before working on the wiring.
  • PTFE is tough to strip – use sharp wire strippers so you don't cut strands.
  • Tin the wire ends and use heat-shrink on all joints and connectors.
  • If the whole wiring harness needs replacing, our workshop in Aulum, Denmark can do the job for you.
